SEE OTHER PAST CURATIONS
A tribute to the legacy of Martin Margiela, in collaboration with contemporary vintage brand Byronesque. This unique exhibition features some of the major Margiela icons from the Parodi Costume Collection archives, whilst creating a narrative around what we refer to as the voids – the missing items that would otherwise make up full looks.
Additionally, the voids represent important references to conceptual and artistic dimensions of Margiela’s work, which we are pleased to share with our audience.
Artists and designers from around the world were invited to bring to life the void concepts within 13 of Martin Margiela’s iconic designs. The introductory text, written by Alexandre Samson, author of “Martin Margiela, the Women Collections” and curator at the Palais Galliera, the Fashion Museum of Paris, further explores some of the ways Martin filled creative voids in his work.
PARODI COSTUME COLLECTION, MIAMI
As curator for the Parodi Costume Collection, I acted as lead advisor on the acquisition of iconic pieces that comprise its current Margiela archive. The entire set was carefully selected to best represent the conceptual narrative of the exhibition, as well as PCC's progressive views on fashion curation and education.
As Art Director to the exhibition, I designed the sets, advised on placement of installations, curated the content of all the media shown in the internal galleries and external areas, and organized the educational / interactive programs for fashion students and the general public. All visits are purposely designed to create an interactive experience that engages the audience to contribute to the show's documentary archive.
This unique sense of making the audience part of the evolution and dynamics of the exhibition is part of my ongoing research of methodological experiments in fashion curation/ education/interaction.
